INVEST IN AFRICA In past decades, #Africa has always been seen from the outside as one of the riskiest markets on
earth. This is because it was one of the youngest continents with the youngest countries on earth as institutions
(almost all the African countries as we know them today became independent around 1960 coming far from
slavery and colonization with all their still-to-be-healed-wounds of today). So, it is unfair to compare African
economies and countries that became institutions in the 60s with countries like France or the UK that have been
institutions for centuries and that had time to build themselves moving from old to modern political,
transparency, compliance, good governance and management processes. So, because of the backwardness of
Africa on some transparency, compliance and good governance verticals, African companies and business men and
women still struggle to work with reputable international organizations and raise capital internationally to solve
local problems and build ourselves today without setting up holding legal entities in “more trustable” areas such
as the Delaware State in the USA, Dubai in the GCC, anywhere in Central or Western Europe or around Singapore
in Asia; all this because when you say “Africa”, international investors hear “risks”.At PONT-BRIDGE, we decided
to change that !
